Tehelka journalist bags award

Tehelka correspondent Aman Khanna has come runner-up in the CNN Young Journalist Award 2004

Aman Khanna
Our correspondent Aman Khanna has come runner-up in the CNN Young Journalist Award 2004. Aman’s story “Assault Rifles Hit Home” uncovered a Rs 60 crore dubious deal by the home ministry in modernising the police. The awards were introduced in 2003 by CNN to recognise and encourage quality journalism among young media professionals. The awards are given to journalists in the age group of 22-26. Aman will be allowed to observe and assist at the CNN news bureau in New Delhi in June, next year, for up to seven days.

Encouraged by the number of entries last year, the CNN YJA 2004 had been expanded to include journalists from Pakistan as well. The jury included a number of distinguished TV and print journalists from India and Pakistan, including CNN South Asia bureau chief Satinder Bindra and Paranjoy Guha Thakurta.
