We
live in difficult times, probably in a state of turmoil
all the time. Away from the gloss and sheen of metros,
there is an India trapped in bondage, poverty and slavery.
Even our big cities are being reduced
to jolting pictures of chaos.
We all face problems in our every day - late-running trains,
clogged drains, pot-holed roads, inept hospitals and a
blanket of deadly haze and smog floating over our towns
and cities.
But there are some issues that affect all of us irrespective
of where we live, what we do. These are serious issues
- big issues. Probably, we see this everyday: overbearing,
dishonest, and inefficient government officials who are
not sensitive to people's needs; hungry, unemployed and
displaced men and women moving from one place to another
in search of succour and some peace of mind; and a helpless
poor, rickshaw-puller being beaten by a brutal policeman.
If these pictures baffle you and make you angry, write
