At least ten people, including two fire officials, reportedly died as a five-storey plastic factory building caught fire and collapsed in Sufiyan Chowk in Industrial Area of Ludhiana on November 21.
Two people were pulled out alive from the debris and were admitted to a hospital.
The building collapsed while the firefighters were still busy controlling the flames.
The building came crashing down within seconds and several firemen and people got trapped in the rubble, said reports.
According to the reports, chemicals stored in the plastic factory stoked the fire.
Teams from National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, Punjab Police have been called to assist in the rescue operation. To clear the debris, the earth-moving machinery has been pressed into service.
