Chinese mobile giant Oppo fired the Chinese national, named Suhahu for disrespecting the Indian flag. This came as hundreds of protesters came out on to the streets in a bid to show their contempt for the disrespect shown to the Tricolour on March 29.
Suhahu allegedly tore the National Flag and threw it in the dustbin in Oppo manufacturing facility in Sector 63, Noida.
The company spokesperson issued a statement saying “Oppo has deep respect for Indians and is localised in the country.â
“Based on the recent incident and after thorough investigation with the concerned authorities, we have found that a worker discarded the Indian flag from the table during regular external material check.  We have ZERO tolerance for such matters and have taken strict action in terminating the individual and continue working very closely with the authorities on the matter”, the company said.
A FIR has been filed against the accused under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
While talking about this incident, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a media briefing in Beijing, China, âWe hope that it will be resolved properly. The Chinese government always asks its Chinese enterprises and staff overseas to abide by local law, regulations and respect local practices and customs.”
