Named Gardabh Singh Yadav, party president Keshav Chandra said, this is the CM face of his party. Chandra’s aim to field the donkey was to drive home a political point.
Chandra’s aim was to fight against the electoral system which allows inefficient candidates to be fielded by various political parties. They have neither education nor talent, but yet become ministers, he added.
Earlier, the BVP activists cheered the CM candidate with flowers etc as the donkey started his march to file the nomination at the Collectorate at Kaiserbagh. Onlookers who gathered to see the donkey marching to file its nomination at the Collectorate egged him on.
When the procession reached the Collectorate, the march was, however, halted as the security personnel stopped them at the gate. Even though the donkey was announced as a candidate from Lucknow Cantonment seat, nothing worked.
The donkey was not allowed inside the campus saying “Ye loktantra hai, janwar tantra nahiâ (this is a democracy, not animal raj), said a Collectorate official.
