In the sensational BCCI-Lodha panel case, the Supreme Court on October 21 pronounced a verdict making the panel responsible to appoint an auditor to examine the board’s financial matters and awarding of contracts.
The SC had also dismissed the BCCI’s review petition on its July 18th judgment validating the reforms as suggested by the Lodha panel.
When the BCCI refused to give an undertaking that it will accept all the panel’s recommendations and fall in line, the SC said funds not be released to the BCCI until the state associations file an affidavit implementing th panel’s suggestions.
It may be noted this comes as an important order as a multi-million dollar media rights of the Indian Premier League are to be rewarded for the next 10 years, starting 2017.
The next hearing on the case is on December 5.
