Tamil Maanila Congress leader GK Vasan and CPI state secretary R Mutharsan have announced to take part in the protests. District-level representatives of Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam,Â Congress, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam, Viruthalai Chiruthalaigal Katchi,Â Naam Tamilar Katchi, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Dravidar Kazhagam and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi took part.
The delta farmers have called the protests to roundly flay the Centre’s position on Cauvery Management Board and urge the government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the issue.
DMK south district secretary KN Nehru will stage a protest at Srirangam railway junction. On the second day, rail roko will be held in Trichy Town, Palakkarai, Pettaivaithalai, Manapparai railway stations and sections such as Bhoodhalur and Thiruvidaimaruthur sections in Thanjavur district and Thanjavur railway junction and Kolivenni section.

He said aÂ board should be set up in cases similar to Narmada, Krishna and Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal Awards.
The technical team, headed by CWC chairperson GS Jha, will submit its report to the Supreme Court on October 17. The team went to Krishnaraja Saga and Kabini dams in Karnataka, Mettur Bhavani Sagar dams in Tamil Nadu. It also spoke with PWD officials and delta farmers of ThThanjavur-Nagapattinamnd Tiruvarur.
