Coming out in strong support of India after the “surgical strikes”, the United States emphasised that Pakistan should redouble efforts in fight against terrorism.
The US, however, did not confirm or deny if India had taken it into confidence before going ahead with the “surgical strikes” to wipe out terrorist launch pads and terrorists.
State Department spokesperson John Kirby, “We urge Pakistan to act against Lashkar-e-Toiba, Haqqani Network, Jaish-E-Mohammed, this is something we’re keen that it does.”
While this was so, PM Narendra Modi may review the situation on the LoC at a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting on September 30 afternoon.
Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif has also convened a cabinet meeting in Islamabad about the situation arising along the LoC. In a meeting with New Zealand’s UN Ambassador Gerard van Bohemen, president, UN Security Council. The Indian mission was immediately not available for comment.
After the elite Special Forces had carried out surgical strikes, Punjab evacuated as many as 1,000 villages in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka and Ferozepur border districts and making arrangements to house 15 lakh evacuees.
