Latest Report:Two of the four Indians that had been kidnapped allegedly by ISIS has been released.
“Four Indians abducted in Libya – I am happy we have been able to secure the release of Lakshmikant and Vijay Kumar. Trying for other two,” External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted.
Earlier Reports:Â According to government, of the four, two are from Hyderabad, one from Raichur and one from Bengaluru. “Three of them were faculty members at the University of Sirte and one was working at the Sirte University’s brach in Jufra,” MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
“We are in regular touch with the families concerned and all efforts are being made to ensure the well-being and early release of the four Indian nationals,” he added.
The ministry of external affairs to trying to ascertain more information about kidnapped Indian teachers. ThisÂ kidnappingÂ brings back the mystery as to who kidnapped Â over 39 Indians in Mosul town ofÂ IraqÂ by ISIS militants over a year ago.
The exact area of the abduction is Sirte town near Tripoli where abductions have taken place in the past as well. This is considered to be a strong hold of the ISIS and the Indian government had issued an advisory to all Indians to return.
The government officials are in touch with the authorities are making attempts to secure the release of the Indians who are said to be teachers. The Indian government has also not received any ransom demandâ€Ž.
