Aam Aadmi Pary chief and Delhiâs chief minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his Race Course Road residence and discussed a range of issues including granting full statehood to Delhi. The AAP chief was accompanied by partyâs senior leader Manish Sisodia.
“Arvind told the Prime Minister that both the Centre and the state government enjoy strong majority, therefore, it is a golden opportunity for both to work together to make Delhi a better city,” Sisodia told reporter after the meeting, adding, âArvind also talked about full statehood to Delhi with the Prime Minister to which he assured that he will look into the issue.â
In the meeting which lasted for 15 minute, Kejriwal extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for his oath-taking ceremony on February 14. However, Modi expressed his inability to attend the function as he will leave for Baramati on the said day to inaugurate the new Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Baramati , incidentally is the family bastion of NCP Chief and Maratha stalwart Sharad Pawar. Modi hence will be sharing stage with the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. With BJP’s ally in Maharashtra Shiv Sena mounting attacks on the BJP especially on Modi after Delhi poll rout the PawarâModi meet though described as apolitical is bound to make buzz and bound to create rumours. It may be recalled the BJP-led government by Devendra Fadnavis won the vote of confidence when the NCP decided to abstain. The NCP has given unconditional support to the BJP government in the interest of the state.
